Dhaka: BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu has alleged that Jamaat-e-Islami is responsible for most of the wrongdoings occurring in various sectors of Bangladesh. He criticized the group for lacking significant public support and for using Islam while acting against its principles.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Dudu made these remarks at a discussion organized at the Jatiya Press Club, marking the 18th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Pharmacy Association. He highlighted that the group thrives on falsehoods and lacks the trust of the people.
Dudu referenced the recent measles outbreak, mentioning that many children have died and criticized the previous government for ignoring warnings from UNICEF. He attributed the measles situation to the failures of the Awami League era and emphasized that the burden of these failures is now falling on the shoulders of the BNP. He stated that the BNP has taken steps to address the issue, but underscored the need for immediate government action to tackle the resurgence of the disease.
Reflecting on the Liberation War, Dudu accused Jamaat-e-Islami of siding with Pakistan and failing to support Bangladesh's independence. He urged vigilance against the group's attempts to mask their true intentions and highlighted their historical missteps.
Dudu also mentioned how certain groups are creating divisions through social media and propaganda, and he criticized past dominance of educational institutions by these groups. He called on party leaders and activists to support Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in addressing these challenges.
