Dhaka:Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has called for an apology from State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam and the Administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) over their claims that Jamaat's Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar owns 700 e-rickshaws, demanding a retraction of what they describe as false and defamatory remarks.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Ehsanul Mahbub Zubayer issued a statement challenging the allegations, asserting that Porwar does not own any e-rickshaws. Zubayer criticized the State Minister's comments, made at a press conference at the Secretariat, as baseless and irresponsible, given the lack of evidence.
Zubayer further noted that similar accusations had previously been made by the DNCC Administrator, but no evidence had been provided to support these claims. He urged both officials to either present concrete proof or retract their statements, emphasizing the need for accountability when making public allegations against political leaders.
The Jamaat leader condemned the repetition of unsubstantiated claims as an attempt to mislead the public and undermine political opponents without basis. He insisted on an immediate public apology from the officials unless credible evidence is brought forth.
