Dhaka: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has demanded the immediate inclusion of all recognized non-MPO (Monthly Pay Order) educational institutions under the MPO scheme. The demand was articulated during a meeting between Jamaat leaders and the Sorbodolio Non-MPO Oikko Parishad (All-Party Non-MPO Alliance) at the Jamaat’s central office.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was presided over by Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP, Professor Mujibur Rahman. He emphasized that non-MPO teachers contribute significantly to the education sector and the development of future generations. He advocated that these educators are essential to nation-building and should receive acknowledgment and financial stability.
Professor Mujibur Rahman urged the government to consider the demands of these educators promptly. He also called for the nationalization of the education system and proposed that the education budget should be increased to at least 6% of the national budget.
The meeting featured addresses from Jamaat’s Education Secretary Principal Iqbal Hossain Bhuiyan, NCP Education Secretary Faisal Mahmud Shanto, AB Party’s Education Secretary Prof. Umar Faruq, and Bangladesh Ideal Teachers’ Federation President Prof. Korban Ali.
In attendance were Non-MPO Alliance Coordinators Principal Selim Mia, Dabirul Islam, and Shahadat Azadi, along with other regional organizers and education activists, who reiterated the ongoing demand to include all recognized non-MPO institutions in the MPO scheme.
