Dhaka: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has urged religious communities, particularly Alem-Ulemas and Islamic scholars, to contribute to the welfare of the country, nation, and Islam.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Shafiqur emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration to create a new Bangladesh free from hunger, poverty, and discrimination. He highlighted the need for harmony among the country's religious communities to propel the nation forward.
Dr. Shafiqur expressed these views while speaking as the chief guest at an Iftar Mahfil organized in honor of the Alem-Ulema and orphans of Dhaka-15 constituency at the Grand Chinese Restaurant in Mirpur-14. He underscored the significance of religious education in enlightening society and warned against its reduction, which he believes could lead to societal darkness.
Dr. Shafiqur criticized the 16-year tenure of the Awami League, alleging that prominent scholars and Ulemas were unjustly imprisoned and tortured. He shared his personal experience of arrest, describing it as if he were treated as a severe criminal. He acknowledged the efforts of students and the public in achieving a new Bangladesh that ensures safety for all, regardless of religion, caste, or tribe.
The event was organized by the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka North City Unit, with Central Executive Council member and Dhaka Metropolitan North Ameer Mohammad Selim Uddin presiding. Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Karim, a member of Jamaat's Central Working Council and Dhaka North City Secretary, conducted the program. Other notable attendees included Central Working Council member and Dhaka North City Unit Nayeb-e-Ameer Abdur Rahman Musa, and Mahfuzur Rahma, a member of the Jamaat-e-Islami central Mojlish-e-Shura and assistant secretary of Jamaat Dhaka City North unit.
