Dhaka:Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has denied allegations that the party is forming an alliance with what he describes as a 'discarded fascist' force, dismissing the claims as a misleading political narrative.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Rahman, speaking at a discussion organized by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami to mark the anniversary of the signing of the July National Charter at the Jatiya Press Club, refuted the accusations and criticized the BNP for allegedly seeking votes from the ousted Awami League during elections.

He further claimed that leaders and activists from the ousted Awami League and its affiliated organizations were being integrated into significant positions within society and the BNP, questioning the latter's credibility in accusing Jamaat of aligning with the former ruling party.

Rahman also addressed allegations of foreign money entering the country to create instability, questioning the government's inability to prevent the inflow of money, weapons, and drugs across the border. He accused the government of diverting attention from its failures by blaming the opposition for issues such as extortion, land grabbing, and worsening law and order, which he said have negatively impacted citizens' lives.

Furthermore, Rahman criticized the government for failing to provide fair prices for farmers and relief from rising living costs for ordinary people. He claimed that the July National Charter referendum saw about 70 percent voter support for the 'Yes' option, indicating public demand for political reforms. Rahman warned against attempts to override the referendum results through constitutional changes that might be nullified by the courts.

Finally, the Jamaat leader affirmed the party's commitment to campaigning for people's rights, emphasizing that their movement would remain peaceful and procedural.
