Palashbari: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman today sought votes from the people to form a justice- and insaf-based government that would ensure security and welfare for all citizens. He said this while addressing an election rally at SM Pilot High School ground in Palashbari Upazila town this morning. District Jamaat Ameer Md Abdul Karim presided over the programme.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Shafiqur Rahman highlighted the lack of notable development in the northern region over the last 16 years, which has led to the drying up of rivers. He promised initiatives to revive these rivers to boost agricultural production and ensure food security. He emphasized that voting his party into power would transform Bangladesh into a fertile country.
Dr Rahman also proposed technical training for unemployed youth to convert them into skilled workers. He announced plans to establish two agriculture universities in the district, given the variety of agricultural crops produced there. Moreover, he criticized the unimplemented decision to establish an EPZ in the district and promised its implementation on a priority basis to create employment opportunities for local youth.
He assured the public of constructing a bridge between Balashi and Bahadurabad Ghat over the Brahmaputra River to improve communication and foster development in the district. Later in the event, Dr Rahman introduced five MP candidates of his party and urged the people to support them in their respective constituencies.
