Shariatpur: A Jamaat activist was apprehended with over Tk 7 lakh during a joint force operation in the Naria upazila of Shariatpur. The arrest took place on Wednesday, and the individual in question has been identified as Golam Mustafa, an assistant teacher at Shaheed Samad High School in Japsa Union, residing in the Rajnagar area.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Golam Mustafa was sentenced to two years' imprisonment and fined Tk 3,000, as stated by Naria Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Luki Das. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional 10 days of rigorous imprisonment for Mustafa.
Acting on a tip-off, members of the joint forces conducted a raid at the residence of Jalil Master in Ward No. 1 of the Baishakhipara area under Naria Municipality, around 5 pm. During this operation, law enforcement officials recovered Tk 7,20,000 in cash, a laptop, several empty envelopes, and documents related to the distribution of money from the premises.
District Jamaat Nayb-e-Ameer KM Maqbul Hossain, along with Jamaat activists Advocate Mahfuz Alam and Hasan Al Mannan, were also detained during the operation. However, they were released after being questioned by the authorities.
