ANTIGUA: Jaker Ali Anik and Mahidul Islam Ankon hit 40 plus knock before taking self-retirement on Day 1 of Bangladesh’s two-day practice game against West Indies Select XI at Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua. Bangladesh declared the innings at 253-7 after which West Indies Select XI reached 5-1 at stumps on Day 1.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Jaker Ali made 48 while Ankon scored 41. Liton Das, who missed the Afghanistan ODIs, also retired after making 31. After opting to bat first, Bangladesh openers struggled to provide a strong start, with Mahmudul Hasan Joy making just 8 and his fellow opener Zakir Hasan adding 15. Test specialist Mominul Haque contributed 31 runs, and Shahadat Hossain Dipu, the replacement for injured skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, scored 25.

Chaim Holder and Jair McAllister took two wickets each for West Indies Select XI. Left-arm spinner Hasan Murad, who opened the bowling, got success in his first over by dismissing local team captain Kraigg Brathwaite for a duck. Kim
