Bashundhara:Dhaka The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named Jaker Ali Anik and Shamim Patwari in the BCB XI for a two-day warm-up match against West Indies ahead of the forthcoming Test series.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, these two players bring national team experience to a squad that largely comprises young, promising cricketers who have excelled in recent domestic leagues. The warm-up match is scheduled to start tomorrow at the Anvir Cricket Stadium in Bashundhara, offering the West Indies team an opportunity to acclimate ahead of the two-match Test series.

The BCB XI squad includes standout performers from the current National Cricket League, featuring several young cricketers and pace bowlers. Notably, no established domestic spinners have been selected, as the hosts aim to reduce the visitors' exposure to local spin conditions in preparation for the Tests.

Patwari, who is no longer part of Bangladesh's T20 squad, will have the chance to prove himself in the red-ball format. Jaker, a regular in the national setup, has also been included. Mahfizul Islam Robin, who impressed with two half-centuries and a century for Mymensingh Division in the ongoing league, has secured a spot in the squad, along with aggressive opener Jisan Alam.

The pace-bowling unit features Anik Dev Barman, a first-class debutant for Sylhet Division in the league, along with Abdul Halim and Rangpur pace all-rounder Chowdhury Mohammad Rizwan. The squad is further bolstered by two age-group cricketers.

The first Test between Bangladesh and the West Indies is set to take place at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on October 28, followed by the second Test in Sylhet on November 5. This series forms part of the ICC World Test Championship.
