Jahrat Adib Chowdhury Elected to IPU Executive Committee

Arusha:Parliamentary Standing Committee Chairman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Barrister Jahrat Adib Chowdhury, has been elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) from its Asia-Pacific Group.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, she was elected at the 153rd IPU Assembly held in Arusha, Tanzania, defeating a candidate from Mongolia.

The election featured representatives from 37 member countries of the IPU's Asia-Pacific Group. Jahrat Adib Chowdhury's election represents a notable accomplishment for Bangladesh in the international parliamentary field.

Parliament Secretariat Secretary Barrister Md. Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, accompanying the Bangladesh parliamentary delegation led by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, during the visit to Tanzania, confirmed the news in a statement.
