Dhaka:Jahangirnagar University: The university has announced plans to organize an annual graduate conference starting this year, aimed at showcasing and recognizing research conducted by its students.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decision was made during a meeting of the university's Academic Council, as stated by JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md Nurul Islam. The initiative will highlight research efforts from students across honours, master's, MPhil, and PhD levels.
The primary goal of the conference is to promote the research being conducted at the university and motivate students engaged in these activities. Participants will receive certificates and awards, which are expected to encourage the pursuit of quality research.
Currently, JU's research activities are managed by individual departments, posing challenges in maintaining a comprehensive record of the university's research output. The conference aims to centralize these efforts, enhancing the visibility of research activities.
This initiative is anticipated to strengthen the university's research profile and provide updated information about its research output, potentially improving its standings in international rankings, including the QS rankings. While the conference will focus on JU graduate students, it will also welcome researchers from other universities.
The event expects to see participation from around 400 attendees from various departments and institutes within the university.
