Savar: The Jahangirnagar University Department of Statistics Alumni Association (JUDSAA) successfully organized the first-ever JUDSAA Sports Carnival 2025 on the university campus.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the carnival was a daylong event that united alumni, faculty members, and current students of the Department of Statistics and Data Science in a celebration centered around sportsmanship and community engagement. The event featured the presence of JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan as the Chief Guest, while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. M Mahfuzur Rahman attended as the Special Guest. Professor Dr. Rumana Rois, Chairman of the Department of Statistics and Data Science, was the Guest of Honour.
The programme was led by Md Anis Ur Rahman, President of JUDSAA and Executive Director (Statistics) of Bangladesh Bank, with coordination from Convenor Mohammad Arif Uddin of United Commercial Bank and Kazi Arifur Rahaman from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The sports carnival featured a range of activities including marathon, football, cricket, basketball, table tennis, badminton, cards, and carrom. Participants included alumni from various batches and current students, contributing to a lively and competitive atmosphere throughout the campus.
The event concluded with a prize-giving ceremony where participants were awarded crests and medals. The Vice Chancellor and other esteemed guests commended the initiative and the enthusiastic participation that marked the event as a successful inaugural event.
JUDSAA expressed appreciation to all involved, including guests, alumni, students, volunteers, sponsors, and well-wishers, for their role in making the sports carnival a memorable occasion at Jahangirnagar University.
