IU Appoints New Dean and Chairman for Key Departments

Kushtia: The authorities of Islamic University (IU) have appointed a new dean for the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies and a new chairman for the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (BTGE).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, an office order signed by the university's acting registrar, Prof Dr. Manjurul Haque, announced the appointment of Prof Dr. Md. Sekander Ali from the Al-Hadith and Islamic Studies Department as the new dean of the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies.

Meanwhile, Prof Dr. Abu Hena Mostofa Jamal from the Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering Department has been appointed as the new chairman of the BTGE department.

The order detailed that Prof Sekander Ali will take on the role of dean for a term of two years under Section 23(4) of the Islamic University Act, 1980 (amended in 2010). In contrast, Prof Abu Hena Mostofa Jamal will serve as chairman for a period of three years, as per the amended Section 10(1) of the university's first statute.
