Natore: Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin today said it is not true that the sellers are getting lesser price of rawhides of the sacrificial animals during this Holy Eid ul Azha. He said that the government had earlier fixed the price of salted rawhides while the price of salted rawhides is expected to become higher even from the fixed price.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Commerce Adviser made these remarks while responding to questions from reporters after visiting the temporary preservation place of rawhides of sacrificial animals at Zamil Madrasah in the district town. Bashir highlighted that following directives from the Chief Adviser, a significant amount of salt, around 7.50 lakh maunds, was distributed to Mosques, Madrasahs, and orphanages free of cost before Eid. This initiative was aimed at restoring stability in the rawhides market, marking a first in the country.

Bashir suggested that the experiences of the interim government could be leveraged by successive political governments to establish a solid foundation in this effort. He emphasized the importance of realizing the rights of Madrasahs and orphanages in this context. Moreover, he proposed that orphanages should have rights on the Hashil of the cattle market alongside the rawhides, suggesting that this could be incorporated into the Hut Policy.

The visit was attended by Deputy Commissioner Hosna Afroza, Police Superintendent Zedan Al Musa, and other senior officials. Earlier in the day, the Commerce Adviser also inspected the permanent and temporary sacrificial animal rawhides preservation areas in Natore and Joypurhat.
