Dhaka: Italy’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, is scheduled to visit Bangladesh from February 18 to 20 to deepen the bilateral relations between the two nations. This visit marks a significant step in enhancing diplomatic ties.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the visit will focus on addressing key issues, including the swift and effective resolution of migration-related complexities, as highlighted by the foreign ministry’s spokesperson, Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, during a weekly media briefing. The vice minister is expected to engage in discussions with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, Foreign Affairs Adviser, and Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser.

This visit is notable as it represents the first ministerial visit from Italy in the past eight years and the first from a European Union member state since the current interim government of Bangladesh assumed office. The discussions will aim to enhance mutual cooperation in industrial and commercial sectors while exploring opportunities for collaboration in education and cultural fields, further strengthening the relationship between the people of both countries.
