Kushtia:The Islamic University authorities have suspended three students following altercations between the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Bangla departments.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the suspended students, identified as Mehedi Hasan, Abdur Rouf, and Mosabbir Hossen, have been barred from all academic activities until further notice. This decision was announced through a notification signed by IU Acting Registrar Professor Atiqur Rahman.
A five-member committee has been established to investigate the incident, led by Khaleda Zia Hall Provost Professor Aynul Haque Akanda. Other members include Student Adviser Mamun Al-Rashid, Transport Section Director Sheikh Abdur Rouf, and Assistant Proctor Jakir Hossain. EEE Department Deputy Registrar Salahuddin has been appointed as the member secretary.
The clashes reportedly began on a university bus in Kushtia on Tuesday, resulting in a student injury. A subsequent meeting involving teachers and students from both departments failed to resolve the matter peacefully, and Bangla department students allegedly attacked an ICT department teacher and students, injuring ICT teacher Professor Shariful Islam and student Abu Sayed.
University authorities have tasked the probe committee with investigating the incident thoroughly and recommending further actions based on their findings.
