Rajbari: A views exchange meeting focusing on the role of Islamic scholars in reinforcing religious tolerance and communal harmony was held in Rajbari district today. The event took place in the conference room of the Islamic Foundation, organized by the Rajbari District Islamic Foundation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting featured Deputy Commissioner Sultana Akhter as the chief guest, while SM Hafizur Rahman, Deputy Director of the Islamic Foundation, presided over the session. Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Abu Russel attended as a special guest. Other notable attendees included Md. Ilias Ali Molla, President of the District Imam Committee, Abul Ershad Md. Sirajum Monir, Principal of Bhandaria Madrasa, and Awabullah Ibrahim, Principal of Sengram Madrasa in Pangsha Upazila.
During the meeting, speakers emphasized the historical coexistence of communities within the country. They highlighted that Muslims have observed fasting and Hindus have conducted their religious rituals peacefully and without any friction. The speakers noted that Muslims have traditionally demonstrated religious tolerance, avoiding radical communal fundamentalism.
Deputy Commissioner Sultana Akhter urged for collective cooperation to ensure a peaceful celebration of Durga Puja, reinforcing the spirit of communal harmony among different religious communities.
