Dhaka:Islami Bank Hospital has launched a Bangla QR code-based transaction system to facilitate medical service payments and decrease dependence on physical cash. This initiative is part of Bangladesh Bank's vision to create a "Cashless Bangladesh."
According to United News of Bangladesh, the announcement was made following a discussion meeting titled "Cashless Payment in Healthcare Services," held at the Islami Bank Foundation Auditorium in Dhaka. Md. Jahir Hossain, Chairman of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, attended as the Chief Guest and formally inaugurated the new transaction system.
Hossain emphasized that moving towards a cashless economy through digital transactions is essential for building a modern and efficient economic structure. He acknowledged the significant reduction in the hassle and risks associated with carrying cash, thanks to Bangladesh Bank's timely Bangla QR initiative.
QR-based payments are expected to streamline counter transactions, making them faster and more convenient for patients. This transition to digital transactions also aims to enhance transparency and accountability by providing reliable financial records within the healthcare and financial sectors.
The event was presided over by Islami Bank's Managing Director (Acting) Md. Altaf Hossain and included speeches from Bangladesh Bank Directors A.N.M. Moinul Kabir, Additional Directors Md. Parvez Anjam Muneer and Mohammad Moin Uddin, and Islami Bank Foundation Executive Director KM Munirul Alam Al-Mamun.
Islami Bank's Additional Managing Director Dr. M Kamal Uddin Jasim, along with other senior officials from the bank and the foundation, were also present at the inauguration.
