Tehran: Iranian authorities have seized properties belonging to 240 people accused of affiliations with Israel and other "hostile countries," state media reported. The individuals are alleged to have carried out propaganda or practical actions against the country, leading to extensive damage to national infrastructure.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the Iranian judiciary stated that these confiscated properties belong to the nation, and efforts will be made to ensure the assets are used to compensate victims. A spokesperson from the Ministry of Justice emphasized that the judiciary will pursue legal avenues to manage the appropriated properties.
This action comes in the wake of Iran's enhanced espionage law enacted last year, which permits the death penalty and the confiscation of assets for aiding the United States, Israel, or any other "hostile" state or group. The law outlines offenses ranging from "conferring legitimacy" on Israel to sharing images or information with foreign networks.
