Dhaka: Education Adviser Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar today emphasized that investing in the development of a science-minded generation is key to achieving sustainable development. He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the Bangladesh Science Academy - Professor Emeritus Dr. Sultan Ahmed Chowdhury Talent Nurture Fund Scholarship Award Ceremony at the National Science and Technology Complex in Agargaon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof CR Abrar highlighted that the event was more than a prize-giving ceremony; it was a celebration of Bangladesh's ongoing advancements in scientific practice and research. He expressed that the future of Bangladesh's scientific pursuits would be carried forward by the young generation.
Prof CR Abrar paid tribute to Dr. Sultan Ahmed Chowdhury, acknowledging his significant contributions to medical science and education. He remarked that Dr. Chowdhury's humanitarian vision continues to inspire young scientists.
He further addressed the global competition centered around knowledge and technology, noting Bangladesh's progress through science-based policies in various sectors, including agriculture, health, IT, renewable energy, and climate adaptation.
The adviser underscored the Bangladesh government's commitment to a science-and innovation-driven development strategy, stressing the importance of nurturing young researchers' interest in scientific thinking. He encouraged the scholarship recipients by stating that their awards represented an investment in a future generation that would propel Bangladesh forward.
Prof CR Abrar urged the creation of an environment conducive to talent development, where educational institutions and industries are interconnected. He emphasized that science is not confined to laboratories but is a transformative force for societal change and human welfare.
The ceremony saw certificates and awards presented to 200 scholarship recipients, with the Education Adviser extending his best wishes for their future research endeavors. The event was chaired by Dr. Zahurul Karim, President of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, with Zakia Rouf Chowdhury, Chairperson of the Professor Emeritus Dr Sultan Ahmed Chowdhury Foundation, present as a special guest.
