Doha:Invest Bangladesh today showcased a portfolio of infrastructure and manufacturing investment opportunities to global investors at the World Investment Forum 2026 in Doha, aiming to attract developers, operators, financiers, and strategic partners.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, around 100 participants, including institutional investors, global financiers, and representatives of investment promotion agencies, attended the Centre Stage session titled "Invest in Bangladesh The Billion-Dollar Opportunity Hiding in Plain Sight." The session was held from 1130 am to 1150 am Doha time as part of the World Investment Forum, organized by UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and hosted by the State of Qatar from October 25 to 27.

Nahian Rahman Rochi, Member of Invest Bangladesh and head of its Investment Development Division, delivered the presentation. He highlighted Bangladesh's young workforce, competitive operating costs, and large domestic market as key factors supporting investment opportunities. Rochi also outlined ongoing efforts to improve investor services and infrastructure to facilitate investment.

The presentation featured industrial-scale solar power projects on government land, LNG infrastructure, the proposed Chattogram Free Trade Zone, port facilities, and the Matarbari green dockyard. It also highlighted investment opportunities in electronics, advanced textiles, and medical devices, identifying potential areas for participation by project developers, operators, investors, and financing partners.

Rochi noted that investors were keen to understand how they could participate in the projects presented, with regional partners expressing interest in exploring opportunities together in economic zones, ports, and dry docks. He emphasized that these investments could serve Bangladesh's growing demand while supporting trade across the region, with follow-up discussions focusing on project-specific requirements and opportunities for collaboration among investors, operators, and financiers.

Invest Bangladesh also held bilateral meetings with prospective investors on the sidelines of the forum. The day's program included a roundtable on strengthening coordination among investment promotion agencies. On the opening day of the forum, Invest Bangladesh Chairman Ashik Chowdhury participated in a ministerial panel on turning energy-transition priorities into investable projects.

Chowdhury explained how the merger that formed Invest Bangladesh brought together investor identification, site preparation, policy coordination, and public-private partnership (PPP) structuring to advance renewable energy projects. He also responded to questions about the Sonagazi solar PPP project on underutilized government land and its potential to serve as a replicable model. Invest Bangladesh currently has 15 industrial-scale solar projects in its pipeline for advancement through PPPs in the coming months.

At a separate investment ministerial roundtable, Chowdhury called for greater recognition of the development impact of investments in emerging economies. He proposed that UNCTAD showcase successful investments and explore risk-sharing mechanisms drawing on investment guarantee and export credit models to help mobilize investment.
