Rajshahi: Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu has announced a plan to organize an international-standard cricket tournament in Rajshahi before the upcoming winter season. The minister revealed this initiative while inaugurating the Dr. A B M Mizanur Rahman Memorial Cricket Tournament at the Rajshahi Railway Ground this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Land Minister highlighted the noble contributions of Dr. A B M Mizanur Rahman, stating, “Doctor Mizan died while serving people during the extremely dangerous and critical time of the coronavirus pandemic.” He assured that all necessary financial and logistical support will be provided in the future for the continued success of the tournament organized in memory of the distinguished social worker.
Addressing the youth, Minister Minu emphasized the importance of following Dr. Mizan’s ideals to develop into responsible citizens dedicated to the service of the country. He acknowledged the need for improvements in the underdeveloped communication system surrounding the Rajshahi Railway Ground and mentioned plans for constructing several major roads in collaboration with railway authorities. Additionally, he expressed his commitment to enhancing the ground’s facilities to make it suitable for hosting international-level cricket matches.
The minister also pledged to bring international-level players to Rajshahi and reiterated his promise to provide all necessary assistance to ensure the success of such events. The inauguration ceremony was attended by players and coaches from various cricket teams, as well as government and non-government officials, employees, and other political figures.
