Dhaka: A meeting was held between National Consensus Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Dr Ali Riaz and President and CEO of the world’s leading conflict resolution organisation ‘International Crisis Group’ Dr Comfort Ero today. The meeting took place at the National Consensus Commission office in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting focused on various issues, including the progress of the National Consensus Commission’s work. Dr Ali Riaz, also the Constitutional Reform Commission Chief, highlighted that discussions with political parties have commenced to forge a national consensus on reforms.
Dr Riaz revealed that the commission plans to engage in dialogues with at least four political parties before Eid. Post-Eid, discussions with additional parties will continue in phases. Letters in spreadsheet format have been dispatched to 38 political parties, soliciting their views on significant recommendations from various commissions, with responses received from 16 so far.
The meeting was also attended by Director of Program (Asia) at International Crisis Group Pierre Prakash and Senior Consultant at International Crisis Group Thomas Kean, among others.
