Narail: International Migrants Day and National Expatriates Day were observed in the district today. To mark the occasion, the district administration, in collaboration with the Technical Training Centre (TTC) and the District Employment and Manpower Office, organized a rally that commenced from the DC Office premises at 10am and concluded at the same location after traversing the main roads of the town.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a discussion meeting followed the rally in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's Office. The meeting was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Lincon Biswas. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Abdul Salam attended as the chief guest, while Assistant Director of the District Employment and Manpower Office Md Abul Kashem delivered the welcome speech.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md Ahsan Mahmud Russel, Narail Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) T M Rahsin Kabir, District Information Officer Md Rostam Ali, and Narail Press Club Vice-President Sultan Mahmood were among those present at the event. The speakers highlighted that around 15 million Bangladeshis reside abroad across 175 countries. They emphasized the growing remittances sent by expatriates and their crucial role in bolstering the national economy.
The speakers further noted that if migrant workers acquire appropriate skills before going abroad, they could secure better wages, thereby enhancing remittance inflows.
