International Literacy Day 2025 Celebrated in Noakhali with Focus on Digital Literacy

Noakhali: International Literacy Day-2025 is being observed today in Noakhali district with the theme ‘Promoting Literacy in the Digital Era’. To mark the occasion, a colorful rally was organized, commencing from the District Administration Office and traversing various streets of the town.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the district administration in coordination with the Bureau of Non-Formal Education hosted a discussion session at the District Administration Office. District Administrator Khandker Ishtiak Ahmed attended as the chief guest, with Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Jennat Rehana presiding over the meeting. District Education Officer Noor Uddin Md. Jahangir was also in attendance.



During the discussion, speakers emphasized the role of literacy as a crucial element for developing human resources. They highlighted the importance of leveraging Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance literacy rates, which is vital for Bangladesh’s economic advancement. The speakers also noted that literacy rates in remote areas lag behind other regions, urging the government to implement special measures to include people from hard-to-reach areas in literacy programs.
