Narail:The International Day of Older Persons was commemorated in Narail with a series of events designed to highlight the importance of the rights and well-being of older citizens.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the day's activities kicked off with a vibrant rally that traversed the main streets of the district town. This was followed by a discussion session held at the Deputy Commissioner's office conference room.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Md. Abdul Salam was the chief guest at the event. The session was presided over by Md. Safayet Hossain Talukdar, the Deputy Director of the District Social Services Office. Special guests included Zila Parishad Administrator and freedom fighter Md. Mostafizur Rahman Alek, as well as Narail Senior Citizens' Welfare Association President Mohammad Abdus Sami Molla. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Ahsan Mahmud Rusel, along with government officials and senior citizens, attended the gathering.
During his address, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Salam emphasized the significant contributions of older individuals to nation-building and societal welfare. He highlighted the moral obligation to provide social security, healthcare, and dignity for elderly citizens.
