Dhaka: The International Day for Universal Access to Information will be observed on Sunday, September 28, in the country and worldwide to raise public awareness about the right to access information. This year’s theme is ‘Ensuring Access to Environmental Information in the Digital Age.’
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, an elaborate program has been organized to observe the day across the country in a meaningful manner. The Information Commission Bangladesh has issued a statement detailing the activities planned for the day. A seminar will be held in Dhaka at 3:00 PM on September 28 at the auditorium of the Information Commission Bangladesh, while separate discussions will take place at the district level.
The event will see Adviser to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Mahfuj Alam attend as the chief guest. The ministry’s secretary, Mahbuba Farzana, will serve as the special guest, with Information Commission Secretary Nur Md. Mahbubul Haque presiding over the seminar. Executive Director of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, is set to present the keynote speech.
Additional activities include the dissemination of the day’s theme through mobile SMS, promotional content on digital media, advertising boards, and banners and festoons on official websites.
