International and National Day of Persons with Disabilities Commemorated in Gaibandha.

Gaibandha: The 33rd International and 26th National Day of Persons with Disabilities was marked in Gaibandha, as well as across the nation and globally, with an emphasis on integrating individuals with disabilities into mainstream development to achieve a discrimination-free Bangladesh. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the district administration and the Department of Social Services, in collaboration with Jatiyo Samaj Kalyan Parishad and Jatiyo Protibandhi Unnayan Foundation, organized a series of events to honor the day. The activities commenced with a post-rally discussion at the deputy commissioner's conference room, chaired by the deputy director of the department, Fazlul Haque. AKM Hedayetul Islam addressed attendees on behalf of Deputy Commissioner Chowdhury Muazzam Ahmed, while Civil Surgeon Kaniz Sabiha and Additional Police Superintendent Abdullah Al-Mamun served as special guests. Other speakers included District Primary Education Officer Md. Nobez Uddin, District Disability Affairs Offi cer Aktar Hossain, and Sadar Upazila Social Services Officer Nasir Uddin. The discourse underscored the necessity of integrating people with disabilities, including children, as they are integral to society and human diversity. The ADC highlighted the urgent need for comprehensive efforts from both public and private entities to ensure the fundamental rights and a supportive environment for persons with disabilities. The day also saw the distribution of wheelchairs, received from the Jatiyo Protibandhi Unnayan Foundation, to individuals with disabilities. The events began with a grand rally departing from the district social services office and concluding at the DC office premises after traversing the town's main roads. A significant number of participants, including government officials, NGO activists, people with disabilities, and their guardians, took part in the day's activities.
