Dhaka: The Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances, in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, has unveiled a documentary titled 'Unfolding The Truth'. The documentary is based on verified information and irrefutable evidence gathered from a comprehensive investigation into enforced disappearances.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the information discovered by the commission serves as a chilling testament to the crimes committed during a previous regime. An official release highlighted that the former fascist government attempted to cultivate a culture of denial by asserting that nobody in Bangladesh had suffered from enforced disappearance.
The release further stated that attempts continue to be made to obscure the truth regarding the widespread and systematic enforced disappearances that occurred under the regime's rule, using false propaganda and distorted narratives. The documentary addresses key questions, including the perpetrators of the enforced disappearances, the methods and locations of abductions, the fate of the victims, and those responsible for these crimes.
The release emphasized that the documentary aims to expose efforts by the regime to conceal the truth. It detailed how the Commission, through factual and documentary evidence, has unearthed secret detention centers, retrieved destroyed or concealed evidence, and revealed the entire cycle of these crimes. The findings are poised to serve as indisputable evidence in legal proceedings.
