Information Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan Heads to Turkey for StratCom Summit

Dhaka: Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan left Dhaka for Turkey early today to attend the ‘International Strategic Communication Summit (StratCom) 2026’ at the invitation of the Turkish government.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the two-day international conference will be held on March 27 and 28 at the Conrad Bosphorus Hotel in Istanbul. The information minister will participate as a panelist in the first session titled ‘A New Framework for the World Order: A Strategic Communication Perspective’ on March 27.



Foreign Minister of Northern Cyprus Tahsin Ertugruloglu, Syrian Information Minister Hamza Al-Mustafa, and Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Culture and Information Kanat Zhumabayevich Iskakov are also expected to attend the session. The panel will be moderated by TRT World senior presenter Alican Ayanlar.



The minister is also slated to attend a reception marking Independence and National Day, organized by the Bangladesh Embassy in Turkey. During the visit, Swapan is expected to hold bilateral meetings with representatives from various countries. He is scheduled to return home on March 30.
