Dhaka: Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farjana today emphasized the necessity of collective efforts to address the national dengue crisis. Speaking as the chief guest at an online view-exchange meeting with information officers from the Mass Communication Department, she highlighted the importance of tackling dengue not just as a health issue but as a humanitarian and social concern for the entire nation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting aimed to boost grassroots-level publicity activities to ensure the success of the 'Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign-2026'. Farjana stressed that alongside government initiatives, the involvement of public representatives, Rover Scouts, Girl Guides, the Red Crescent, volunteer organizations, and ordinary citizens is crucial in the fight against dengue.
She outlined a comprehensive publicity action plan aligned with the Prime Minister's directives for a three-month nationwide dengue prevention and cleanliness campaign. The crash programme includes waste and garbage removal, elimination of stagnant water, and prevention of Aedes mosquito breeding.
Farjana urged information officers to persist in raising public awareness and motivating community involvement to guarantee the success of dengue prevention measures. She also directed officials to collaborate closely with deputy commissioners and local administrations.
The meeting, chaired by Additional Secretary KM Abdul Wadud, also featured speeches from Additional Secretary Md. Shah Alam. Mass Communication Department Director General SM Abdur Rahman delivered the welcome address, while relevant officials participated in the session.
