Dhaka: The government has reconstituted the Press Accreditation Appeal Committee, appointing the information and broadcasting secretary as its chairperson, according to a recently issued notification. Principal Information Officer (PIO) Syed Abdal Ahmed will serve as the member secretary of the committee.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the other members of the committee include Prime Minister’s Press Secretary AAM Saleh Shibly, Bangladesh Press Council Secretary Md Abdus Sabur, Daily Jugantor editor Abdul Hye Sikder, Independent Television Chief News Editor Akmal Hossain, and Daily Times of Bangladesh Advisory Editor Elias Uddin Khan.
The notification also stated that the previous committee, formed through a memorandum dated October 28, has been cancelled. Regarding the committee’s responsibilities, it was outlined that anyone aggrieved by a decision of the Press Accreditation Committee may file an appeal with the newly formed committee.
The notification further mentioned that the committee will be responsible for disposing of appeals within 30 days of receiving an application, ensuring a timely resolution process.
