Dhaka: An infant boy was killed in a road accident near the Singair Bus-stand area on the Hemayetpur-Singair-Manikganj Regional Highway on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Zahid Ibn Zaman, aged 9 months, son of Md Zaman, of Jhukkuria village under Manikganj Sadar Upazila of the district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sub-Inspector (SI) Rashedul Islam of Singair Police Station reported that the accident occurred at approximately 10:30 am. A microbus, traveling from Manikganj, knocked down a CNG vehicle traveling in the same direction. As a result, Zahid, a passenger in the CNG, was thrown onto the road. At that moment, a fast-moving truck coming from the opposite direction ran over Zahid, causing fatal injuries and killing him instantly.
The police disclosed that while they were able to seize the truck involved in the accident, the microbus fled the scene. Zahid’s body has been sent to Manikganj Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. Authorities have filed a case concerning the incident.
