India’s 1st Golden Globe: High-energy dance number ‘Naatu Naatu’ from ‘RRR’ wins best song award

SS Rajamouli’s South Indian blockbuster ‘RRR’ won the best original song for ‘Naatu Naatu’ at the Golden Globes.

 

The film, which earned over Rs 1,200 crore globally, was also nominated for the Best Non-English Language Film. ‘Argentina, 1985’ from Argentina won in that category, reports NDTV.

‘RRR’ director and stars – Rajamouli, Jr NTR and Ram Charan – represented the film at the Golden Globe Awards.

 

Jr NTR and Ram Charan play freedom fighters Komaram Bheem and Alluri Seetharamaraju in the period drama, set in British India during the 1920s. The ensemble cast also includes Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn as well as British actors Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris.

‘RRR’ has already won international honours including Best Director for Rajamouli at the New York Film Critics Circle awards.

 

Comedian Jerrod Carmichael hosted the 80th Golden Globes from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, with little of the fanfare that usually opens such ceremonies.
