Indian Naval Ship INS Sunayna Arrives in Chattogram on Goodwill Visit

Chattogram: Indian Naval ship, INS Sunayna, arrived at Chattogram Port on Friday on a three-day goodwill visit to Bangladesh. Upon its arrival at the port, the ship was warmly received by the Chief Staff Officer of the Commander Chattogram Naval Area. Officers and sailors of the visiting ship were welcomed with traditional ceremonial music by a smartly turned-out band of the Bangladesh Navy.



According to United News of Bangladesh, among others, officials from the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh and senior officers of the Bangladesh Navy were present during the reception. Earlier, as the vessel entered Bangladeshi waters, Bangladesh Navy ship ‘Ali Haider’ provided a customary escort and welcome.



During the visit, the commanding officer of INS Sunayna, along with the Naval Adviser of the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh, will pay courtesy calls on the Commander Chattogram Naval Area, Commander Bangladesh Navy Fleet, Area Superintendent Dockyard, and the Chairman of Chattogram Port Authority.



As part of the programme, officers and sailors of the visiting ship will visit Bangladesh Navy training establishments and ships, as well as important historical and tourist sites in Chattogram. In addition, Bangladesh Navy personnel will also visit the Indian naval ship. The visit is expected to create opportunities for professional exchange of experiences between the two navies and further strengthen the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and India.



It is mentioned that the ship will depart Bangladesh’s territorial waters on May 10, 2026, upon completion of the visit.
