Indian IM Aaryan Maintains Solo Lead in Leonine 3rd Grandmasters Chess Tournament

Dhaka: International Master Aaryan Varshney of India maintained a solo lead in the points table with 4.5 points after the fifth round of the Leonine 3rd Grandmasters Chess tournament held at the hall room of the Leonine Chess Club in the city's Dhanmondi today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, International Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman is following the leader closely with 3.5 points. Four players shared the third position with three points. They are International Master Manon Reja Neer, Grandmaster Abdisalimov Abdimalik of Uzbekistan, GM Nguyen Duc Hoa of Vietnam, and FIDE Master Panesar Vedant of India.

In the day's fifth-round matches, IM Aaryan Varshney split points with GM Nguyen Duc. IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman beat FM Panesar Vedant, while Grandmaster Abdisalimov Abdimalik of Uzbekistan defeated GM Reefat Bin Sattar. International Master Manon Reja Neer outclassed FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia, and FIDE Master Sakline Mostafa Sajid defeated International Master Abu Sufian Shakil.
