Dhaka: Indian Deputy High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pawankumar Tulshidas Badhe emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral trade and investment, as well as removing tariff and non-tariff barriers to further strengthen commercial connectivity between India and Bangladesh. He made this statement during a meeting with the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Administrator Md Fazlul Hoque at the federation's Gulshan office in Dhaka.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Badhe highlighted the necessity of forming a business-to-business (B2B) task force to facilitate trade and investment between the two nations. He mentioned that his office is actively engaging in discussions with both governments to expedite the establishment of this task force. Badhe also called for the cooperation of Bangladesh's private sector, led by the FBCCI, to ensure the effectiveness of this initiative.
In efforts to foster better relations and ease travel, Badhe announced that India has recently simplified visa procedures for Bangladeshi travelers. Currently, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka is issuing approximately 5,000 visas daily, which is expected to facilitate greater interaction and collaboration between the citizens of both countries.
Md Fazlul Hoque, FBCCI Administrator, expressed support for the idea of a joint task force, suggesting it could significantly enhance bilateral trade and cooperation. He encouraged entrepreneurs and businesspeople from both India and Bangladesh to collaborate in promoting investment and trade in emerging sectors, aiming to harness the potential for economic growth and development in both countries.
