Dhaka: The government has mandated that all government and non-government educational institutions organize programmes to commemorate ‘Genocide Day’ on March 25 and Independence Day on March 26 in a fitting manner. Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) on Monday instructed all government and non-government schools and colleges, and training institutions to arrange programmes according to their convenience to mark both the occasions.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, all secondary and higher secondary educational institutions across the country will conduct discussions on Independence Day on March 26. On March 25, schools, colleges, and other institutions will host memorial meetings with participation from freedom fighters and distinguished persons of society who will share their memories of the genocide and the Liberation War.
On Independence Day, the national flag will be hoisted atop all public and private buildings and educational institutions. The national anthem will be played in student assemblies, and Independence Day parades will be arranged at divisional, district, and Upazila levels. National-level essay and recitation competitions will take place between March 20 and 25 to commemorate Independence and National Day.
Various sports events, including football, T20 cricket, and kabaddi tournaments, will be held at the district and Upazila levels, involving students from schools and colleges. The Independence Day programmes aim to instill patriotism and awareness among students about the nation’s history and sacrifices.
