Chattogram: Incessant rains for several days have caused serious water logging in different parts of the city, leaving many city roads under water. A busy city road from Sholashahar to Oxygen has completely gone underwater due to heavy rain, leading to traffic blockage on one side of the two-lane road and resulting in long traffic jams in the area.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the water flow on the road led to the collapse of a bridge on the road, resulting in the important thoroughfare being kept off-limits for traffic. A member of the on-duty police team reported that the road has cracked at several places and is flooded. Local people are trying to protect the road with bamboo fences and by felling trunks of trees.

Ambagan met office has recorded 81 millimeters of rain in the last 24 hours till 9 am today, with 24 millimeters recorded from 6 am to 9 am. Office goers have suffered the most from the water logging due to the rain, as the crisis for public transport intensified.
