ILO Country Director Engages in Productive Talks with State Minister Aminul

Dhaka: ILO Country Director Max Tunon met with State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque at the latter’s office in the ministry today. During their meeting, the State Minister emphasized the government’s focus on creating employment opportunities for youth through various training programs conducted by the Department of Youth Development. These programs are aimed at enhancing skills and fostering self-reliance among young people.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the State Minister highlighted the strong response to training courses such as caregiving, mobile servicing, and freelancing offered by the department. He also mentioned initiatives aligned with the government’s election manifesto to generate employment.



The ILO Country Director discussed the ongoing ISEC project, which is being implemented jointly by the ILO and the Department of Youth Development. This project has been instrumental in enhancing skills and creating job opportunities for youth in Cox’s Bazar, with over 7,000 young people employed through 46 training courses so far. Additionally, the ILO Country Director expressed interest in collaborating with the Ministry of Youth and Sports on capacity building, training programs, and entrepreneurship development.
