Illegally Hoarded 2 Lakh Liters of Fuel Seized Nationwide

Dhaka: A nationwide drive against illegal fuel storage resulted in the seizure of approximately 2,08,650 liters of fuel across the country from March 3 to 29, as announced by officials on Monday. This significant operation underscores the government’s commitment to curbing unauthorized fuel stockpiling.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the announcement was made during a press conference organized by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources. Joint Secretary and spokesperson of the ministry, Monir Hossain Chowdhury, disclosed that authorities conducted a total of 3,168 drives during the specified period.



The confiscated fuel comprises 1,39,965 liters of diesel, which represents the highest share, followed by 22,539 liters of octane and 46,146 liters of petrol. Legal actions have been initiated against the offenders, with 1,053 cases filed so far. Additionally, 16 individuals have received sentences and have been fined a total of Taka 75,16,000.



Officials have stated that the drive will continue as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure proper fuel management and prevent unauthorized stockpiling.
