Shyampur:Police, assisted by Dhaka South City Corporation, conducted an eviction drive in Shyampur to clear illegal structures from the footpaths in the area.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's media and public relations division reported that the operation took place on Thursday from 1000 am to 730 pm. Areas targeted in the drive included Jurain Railway Gate, City Corporation Market, the vicinity of Ad-Din Hospital, Jurain Bazar, Postogola, Shashan Ghat, Karimullahbagh, and Dholairpar.
The DMP indicated that these illegal structures had long occupied public spaces, obstructing pedestrian pathways. The eviction team employed excavators and trucks supplied by the city corporation to dismantle the makeshift structures.
The police emphasized that such operations would continue to ensure roads and footpaths are accessible and convenient for public use.
