Dhaka: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has instructed police personnel across various levels to work with utmost sincerity to ensure that citizens can celebrate the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha in a festive and peaceful manner. He emphasized earnestness in police operations during a virtual meeting held with key police officials, including metropolitan police commissioners, Deputy Inspector Generals of all ranges, and district Superintendents of Police.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the police chief highlighted the importance of collective efforts from different branches such as metropolitan police, district police, highway police, railway police, tourist police, river police, and other specialized units. This collaborative approach is aimed at better maintaining law and order during the festivities.
Moreover, IGP Baharul Alam directed the police to ensure the smooth transportation of cattle, emphasizing that animals should not be forcibly moved from one market to another and that cattle markets should not be set up along highways. He also called for continuous vigilance to prevent the circulation of counterfeit currency, robbery, and extortion in cattle markets, shopping malls, and other public areas to maintain security.
Present at the meeting were Additional IGP Md. Matiur Rahman Sheikh, Additional IGP of Special Branch Md. Golam Rasul, Additional IGP (Crime and Operations) Khondaker Rafiqul Islam, DIG (Operations) Md. Rezaul Karim, DIG (Confidential) Md. Kamrul Ahsan, along with other concerned officers.
