Khulna:Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir has announced efforts to establish an effective policing system aimed at restoring public trust and ensuring societal peace and justice. He made these remarks during a community policing meeting focused on combating drugs, terrorism, extortion, juvenile gangs, and extremism in Khulna and its surrounding areas, held at the Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Lines.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was presided over by KMP Commissioner Md. Sajjadur Rahman, with Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Khulna Range Md. Rezaul Karim and Police Training Centre, Khulna Commandant (DIG) A.K.M. Mosharraf Hossain Miazi attending as special guests. He stated that since August 5, the police have recommitted to their duties with renewed determination, aiming to become a humane and people-friendly force by fostering a trust-based relationship with the public.

Highlighting the government's "zero tolerance" policy against drugs and extortion, the IGP expressed confidence in the eradication of these issues through collaborative efforts. He reported ongoing joint operations targeting juvenile gangs, extortionists, drug dealers, and terrorists, with government support to enhance the effectiveness of these initiatives.

Furthermore, the IGP addressed past allegations against some community police members for harassment and extortion. He assured that future community policing activities would be conducted within a legal framework to prevent such incidents. The IGP also called on journalists, whom he described as society's mirror, to support community policing efforts, envisioning a peaceful and secure society through united efforts.

Following the meeting, the IGP visited the office of the DIG of Khulna Range, where he engaged in discussions with senior police officers from various units in Khulna, providing them with crucial operational guidance.
