Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting Chairman Tarique Rahman announced today that if the people of Bangladesh vote BNP into power, the party will prioritize ensuring justice for enforced disappearances, killings, and all acts of repression and murder that occurred during the 16-year fascist regime and the July uprising. Tarique emphasized that justice would be a primary focus alongside the party’s political agenda.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tarique Rahman expressed that not only the BNP, but any political party assuming the responsibility of governing in the future should prioritize supporting those persecuted for advocating the rights of the people. This includes assisting families who have lost loved ones or suffered oppression and ensuring justice for these injustices.
Tarique Rahman made these comments while virtually attending an event as the chief guest at the Lakeshore Hotel in Gulshan. The event, titled “Eid Gift Distribution,” catered to families of victims of enforced disappearances and killings during the Awami League regime, as well as families of martyrs from the 2024 mass uprising.
The event was organized by Amra BNP Poribar and presided over by its convener, Atiqur Rahman Rumon. BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi was present as a special guest, along with other notable figures from the party, including BNP Joint Secretary General Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel and various advisors and members of Amra BNP Paribar.
An iftar event was also hosted, attended by several central leaders of the party, including BNP Media Cell members, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal General Secretary, and other key members of the BNP.
