Gazipur: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today instructed the prosecution to submit the probe report on the murder of college student Ridoy Miah in Konabari, Gazipur, by August 17.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tribunal, led by Justice Md Golam Mortoza Majumder, set this deadline after the prosecution requested an additional two months to conduct a thorough investigation into the case. Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam, alongside prosecutors Gazi Monwar Hussain Tamim and S M Moinul Karim, represented the prosecution in court. Advocate Delwar Hossain appeared on behalf of the accused individuals.
Ridoy Miah, a 20-year-old student of Hemnagar Degree College in Tangail, was fatally shot in the Konabari area of Gazipur district during a mass uprising on August 5 last year. In addition to his studies, Ridoy drove an auto-rickshaw in the area.
Following the incident, Md Ibrahim, Ridoy’s cousin, filed a murder case with Konabari Thana and another case with the ICT regarding the murder. The prosecution also presented former officer-in-charge of Konabari Thana, K M Ashraf Uddin, Inspector of the Gazipur District Detective Branch Md Shafiqul Islam, and constables Akram Hossain, Fahim Hassan, and Mahmudul Hassan Sajib before the tribunal today.
