ICAB’s New Leadership Team Takes Office

Dhaka: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) has appointed N. K. A. Mobin as its new President, alongside Suraiya Zannath, Md. Rokonuzzaman, Muhammad Mehedi Hasan, and Md. Moniruzzaman as Vice Presidents. These individuals assumed their roles yesterday and are set to lead the Institute for a one-year term. The outgoing President, Maria Howlader, has successfully completed her tenure, as stated in an ICAB press release today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, N. K. A. Mobin is currently the Executive President of Emerging Credit Rating Limited (ECRL), a licensed credit rating company in Bangladesh. ECRL was established roughly 16 years ago and is licensed by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC). Mobin is also one of the sponsor directors of ECRL.



Having been part of ICAB’s Council since 2019, Mobin has previously served as Vice President in both 2019 and 2022. Additionally, he has experience leading the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI) as Senior Vice-President for two consecutive years. His professional journey includes roles at Swedish/Dhaka Match, KAFCO, Ciba-Geigy/Novartis Bangladesh Limited, and GrameenPhone Ltd., where he served as Finance Director and Company Secretary.



Currently, Mobin is a government-nominated Board Director at Biman Bangladesh Airlines, a position he has held since August 2024, having also served as Director from 2016 to 2020. He is also an Independent Board Director at The Citizen Banks PLC. Mobin’s previous directorships include roles at Bangladesh Submarine Cables Company Limited (BSCCL), Unique Hotel and Resorts Limited, Heidelberg Cement Bangladesh Limited, Mobil-Jamuna Lubricants Bangladesh Limited, Shasha Denims Limited, Omera Petroleum Limited, and Omera Cylinders Limited.
