ICAB Delegation Participates in SAFA Events in Delhi

New Delhi: A delegation of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), led by SAFA board member and ICAB President Maria Howlader, recently participated in the strategy meeting of the SAFA Board and other committee meetings in India.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ICAB delegation also took part in the World Forum of Accountants (WOFA) conference, hosted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), from January 30 to February 2, 2025, in New Delhi, India. The delegation included Nasir Uddin Ahmed, a member of the SAFA international relations committee and former President of ICAB; Md. Moniruzzaman, Technical Adviser of SAFA, and former President of ICAB; Sabbir Ahmed, Chairman of the SAFA Committee on professional ethics and independence, and Mahbub Ahmed Siddique, assistant executive secretary of SAFA and chief operating officer of ICAB, as stated in a press release.



The discussions at the meetings primarily focused on the development of a robust and sustainable accountancy profession, addressing issues in the private and public sectors, financial markets and economies, and enhancing organizational development and stakeholder engagement in the South Asian region.



The event was attended by notable figures such as Jean Bouquot, President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Ashfaq Yousuf Tola, President of SAFA, Prafulla Chhajed, President of CAPA, along with Presidents and representatives from professional institutes of SAARC countries.



South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), a Network Partner of IFAC, comprises 11 accountancy bodies from the South Asian region, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, Afghanistan, and Bhutan.
