Husband gets life term for killing wife in C’nawabganj

A Chapainawabganj court on Tuesday

sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for killing his wife.

The convicted person is Md Tunu, son of late Nur Mohammad of Daripata village

under Bangabari union of Gomostapur upazila in the district.

Chapainawabganj District and Session Judge Md Adeeb Ali gave this verdict in

presence of the convict. The court also fined him Taka 20,000. In default he

is to suffer two years more in jail, a court source said.

According to the prosecution story, following a conjugal conflict, Tunu

strangled his wife Rokhsana to death with a scarf on June, 19, 2018 at night.

The victim's father Mostofa filed a murder case with Gomostapur police

station accusing Tunu on the same day.

The investigating officer of the case sub-inspector Aslam Khan submitted

charge sheet against Tunu to the court on July 31, 2018.

After hearing the witnesses the court handed down the punishment.
