Husband Accused in Gaibandha Wife Murder Case Arrested from Gazipur

Gazipur: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an absconding husband accused in a wife murder case filed at Sadullapur police station in Gaibandha from the Basan police station area of Gazipur on Saturday afternoon. The arrestee is Md Anarul Islam, 45, of Sadullapur township under Sadullapur police station, as stated in a press release issued by RAB-13’s Senior Assistant Director (Media) and Additional Superintendent of Police Biplab Kumar Goswami today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the complainant Md Nurul Islam, 42, who is the brother of the victim, filed a statement indicating that his younger sister, Shimuli Akhter Sheuly, 36, was the second wife of the accused Md Anarul Islam. Since their marriage, the couple frequently engaged in altercations over various issues, with the accused reportedly subjecting the victim to physical and mental torture, accompanied by threats to her life.



In a tragic continuation of these events, the accused and his accomplices allegedly strangled Shimuli Akhter Sheuly to death at her home before fleeing the scene at 3:30 pm on May 22, 2026. Following this incident, Md Nurul Islam filed a murder case with Sadullapur police station on May 23, 2026.



Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of RAB-13 from Gaibandha Camp and RAB-1 from Uttara Camp in Dhaka conducted a raid and apprehended the main accused, Md Anarul Islam, from the Basan police station area of Gazipur on Saturday afternoon. The arrested accused has been handed over to Sadullapur police station for further legal action.
